PVR to give 'desi' release to Mira Nair's THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST on more than 600 screens

THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST Mira Nair's latest film will be released on more than 600 screens across India in its English as well as dubbed Hindi version. Kamal Gianchandani, President PVR Pictures, made this announcement during a press conference at the 43rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

It will be as wide a release as possible of a Mira Nair film in India. The film is slated for a worldwide release in April 2013 after having done its rounds of various international film festivals. It was the closing film at IFFI. Mira Nair termed it as her most ambitious project. The film was shot in Atlanta standing in for New York, and Delhi substituting for Lahore, and Istanbul. Shimit Amin, the well-known film director of Bollywood movies like CHAK DE INDIA has edited the film.

THE RELUCTANT FUNDAMENTALIST is a political thriller based on the novel by the same name by Mohsin Hamid and is the story of a young Pakistani financial analyst and how his life is completely transformed in the aftermath of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Centre at New York. A Cine Mosaic and Mirabai Films Production, the film has big Hollywood stars like Kate Hudson, Kiefer Sutherland, Liev and Schreiber apart from Riz Ahmed, Om Puri and Shabana Azmi. The film opened the 69th Venice International Film Festival in August 2012 and was part of the Toronto Gala programme as well.
